Greek Night at Tennessee State University (TSU) is hands down one of the most exciting events of the year! As one of the nation’s top Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), TSU is bursting with energy, and the Greek life on campus is at the heart of it all. Unlike many other schools, TSU is proud to have all of the Divine Nine (D9) active on campus, with members not only shaping Greek life but also taking on major leadership roles throughout the university. This annual event brings together these organizations for an unforgettable night of pride, unity, and celebration—showcasing both their deep history and the continued legacy of excellence at TSU.
This year’s Greek Night was nothing short of amazing. Picture this: about 500 students packed into the event, the energy was through the roof, and you could feel the excitement buzzing in the air. The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organizations—Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Iota Phi Theta—were all in the house, and they didn’t disappoint. They strutted in with pride, showing off what makes them unique, while reminding us all just how much they’ve contributed to TSU and the community.
From the moment the event kicked off, it was clear that this wasn’t just your average night. Each fraternity and sorority had the spotlight to showcase their accomplishments and, of course, give their iconic strolls. The crowd went wild as they hit the floor, stepping with purpose, pride, and that signature Greek energy. It wasn’t just about having fun—it was about celebrating each organization’s commitment to leadership, community, and excellence.
And let’s talk about the achievements—because Greek Night was about more than just entertainment. It was a chance to highlight the powerful impact these organizations have on TSU’s campus and the larger community. Take the Alpha Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., for example. They were recognized for their outstanding service, completing an astonishing 1,908 hours of community service. Before strolling, they were celebrated for this incredible feat, showing how dedicated they are to making a difference—not just at TSU, but in the entire Nashville community. Talk about service to all mankind!
Then, let’s hear it for the Alpha Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., who earned some major bragging rights! They were recognized by the National Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. as Undergraduate Chapter of the Month for January 2025—a prestigious award that speaks volumes about their dedication to leadership, scholarship, and service. It’s not easy to win that title, and their hard work sets the bar high for all undergraduate chapters.
TSU is unique because many of its students are active in not only Greek life but in leadership positions across campus. Chandler Holt, Miss TSU, is a proud member of the Alpha Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Chandler Cotton, Mr. TSU, is a member of the Beta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and plays an instrumental role in representing the student body. Additionally, Chrishonda O'Quinn, the current Student Government Association (SGA) President, is a member of the Alpha Chi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., continuing to show the leadership and drive that TSU is known for. And the impact of TSU Greek life stretches beyond just student leadership—Erik Buggs, Assistant Coach for the Men’s Basketball team, is also a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., proving that Greek life’s influence spans both academics and athletics.
At the end of the day, Greek Night at Tennessee State University is more than just a fun event—it’s a powerful reminder of the role that Black Greek organizations play in shaping the future. From service to leadership, these organizations are creating a lasting impact on TSU and beyond. Greek Night celebrates that legacy while inspiring the next generation of leaders to keep pushing forward, making meaningful contributions to their alma mater and society as a whole.
